[ENG] Montecristo Project is an artistic-curatorial duo founded in Sardinia in 2016 by artists Enrico Piras and Alessandro Sau. Blurring the lines between artistic creation and curatorial practice, the project manifests through artworks, exhibitions, essays, and custom-designed spaces.
Central to their research is the creation of unique exhibition environments across Sardinia. Their debut space—a white cube housing the works of outsider artist Salvatore Moro—was built on a secluded islet off the Sardinian coast, its exact location kept secret. The duo also runs a "mountain department" set within an open structure in southern Sardinia, specifically dedicated to hosting artists who also run exhibition spaces.
Expanding their practice into narrative territory, Montecristo Project created Deltitnu, a conceptual character whose wanderings through the art system capture the trials and experiences of an aspiring artist. Together, these physical and conceptual spaces serve as the visual and theoretical extension of the duo's practice.
